Honoring service, celebrating camaraderie

At SpringRidge at Charbonneau, Veterans Day is more than a date on the calendar. It’ s a heartfelt tradition that celebrates service, sacrifice and the enduring bonds formed through military life.
This year, residents at the active retirement community who served in the armed forces will be honored with a special luncheon, followed by a patriotic ceremony led by the Canby American Legion. Live music will fill the room as residents, families and friends gather to

The sign-up deadline falls on Tuesday, Dec. 2, which is the Tuesday right after Thanksgiving. Perhaps you are going out of town for Thanksgiving. reflect on the meaning of the day.
“ Every Veterans Day, I’ m reminded that service doesn’ t end when the uniform comes off. It continues in the way these men and women support one another,” said Zest Director Michelle Watts.“ Seeing our veterans share stories, laugh together and honor each other’ s journeys is what makes this community so special. It’ s not just remembrance; it’ s connection.”
SpringRidge has become a place where these connections are nurtured and fostered. In fact, some veterans have even reunited with old military friends after moving into the community. These chance encounters often turn into renewed friendships that continue to grow over morning coffee, at community events and through shared stories.
The community’ s Veterans Wall of Honor, currently being refreshed, remains a central symbol of gratitude, proudly displaying the faces of residents who have served. Each Veterans Day, new inductees are added, ensuring their legacy is recognized by neighbors, families and staff members.
For those who live at SpringRidge, the camaraderie extends well beyond military service. The maintenance-free lifestyle affords resident-veterans time to enjoy loved ones, explore new interests and strengthen friendships.
As the music plays and the flags wave this Veterans Day, SpringRidge at Charbonneau will once again come together to honor those who have served and celebrate the newfound friendships and community bonds.
