PRESIDENT ’ S MESSAGE

Happy Holiday Season everyone ! Tomorrow marks my favorite holiday , Thanksgiving . A time for food , family , football , and food-comas . But most importantly , this time of year if my favorite as it is always a great time to reflect on all that has been going on during the last year and to be thankful and appreciate of all that we have .
Here at ASCE-NH , we are thankful to have had another great joint meeting . This time it was with ASCE-VT at the Coolidge Hotel in White River Junction VT . A great night of networking and learning with a presentation from Josh Gilman of the Portland Cement Association that walked us through the lifecycle of concrete and the steps that the industry is taking towards reducing the overall carbon footprint of this material . The talk and the associated discussions were detailed , thought-provoking , and a great chance to learn more about this interesting and ever evolving industry .
Next month , December 6 th through the 8 th , ASCE-NH will be hosting Engineers Day . This will be another great event where up to 6 PDHs can be earned and some great topics ranging from the State of the State to robotic testing to green infrastructure will be explored and discussed . Please join us for this three-day digital event at 9:00am and 12:00am each day for the one hour presentations .
As a repeated reminder to all , the board is fortunate that long time member Nick Golon has stepped up on an interim basis into the president-elect role , but he is not able to fill the part going forward full time . ASCE-NH is a great organization that does fantastic charity work to give back to the engineering community in addition to being a wonderful networking opportunity . If you or anyone you know is interested in a leadership role with our organization , please contact us to attend our next board meeting ( via Zoom ) to see what we are about .
Finally , we plan to start up the monthly Lunch and Learns again this year in January , so be on the lookout for these great learning opportunities !
My best to you and yours , Owen Friend-Gray PE ASCE-NH President
