A Rhode Island native , Dee Speaks is primarily a portrait photographer who produces visual content that is aesthetically pleasing to the eye . In the spring of 2020 , she co-founded the Vanta Guild , which is a Rhode Islandbased collective of Black photographers . “ Photographing the winners of the Bannister Awards was a great experience ,” she says . “ I could tell everyone was genuinely happy to be there , which made me feel excited to work with them .”
“ It was a pleasure to photograph this residence , where the accessibility is natural to the plan , and gives the house an easy flow ,” says photographer Robert Brewster about this month ’ s At Home . “ The architect ’ s interventions bring soft natural light and positive uplift to the spaces . It ’ s a wonderful family home .” Brewster came to Rhode Island for RISD , and photographs for builders and architects ; he also documents endangered or disappearing landmarks for the Library of Congress and local archives . Once COVID restrictions started to lift in Rhode Island , writer Jackie Ignall stumbled upon the new bright , airy Newport shop , Wald and Sea [ Current ]. “ I loved the California vibe and all the beautiful items owner Kim Wald stocks in her shop ,” she says . “ It ’ s a great addition to Newport and I love that the store is doing well even when opening in a pandemic .” Ignall , who has written for a variety of publications including Manhattan and Life and Style , also creates content for her lifestyle blog , Wander and Lash , wanderlash . com . �
