SUMMERTIME BLUES
THE PROJECT : Create an overall look for a new boutique hotel near the beach .
WHAT THE JUDGES LIKED IN 2015 : A complete vision that swept in on a wave of color and light . The coastal-inspired surfer tone suggests a place for relaxation , and it ’ s pitch perfect .
WHY WE LIKE IT NOW : The look is fun and nostalgic without being kitschy and doesn ’ t resort to tired nautical accents . The bold use of teal and seagrass blues in the chairs , pillows , even the beaded pendant lights work together and nod to their ocean neighbor . “ It ’ s upscale , without being stuffy .”
