Hello Fellow NH ASCE Members and readers of out monthly newsletter. My name is Kevin Garvey and I
am the Sr. Delegate on the Board. This is my first year on the Board of Directors for ASCE-NH though I
am very active in New England Environment Water Environment Association and have been Co-Chair of
the NH-Young Professionals Committee and was previously the chair for the Engineering Management
Group in the Boston Society of Civil Engineers Section. I am excited to learn from the other board
members about the intricacies of ASCE-NH and to bring my past experiences to the board!
I grew up in Bow, New Hampshire, just south of Concord where I-89 and I-93 meet. After finishing high
school, I attended UNH for my undergraduate then found a job working for VHB in Bedford, NH where I
had the awesome opportunities to work on the I-93 and Spaulding Turnpike widening in additional to
various capacity focused transportation projects.
After my time at VHB, I move to Boston to pursue a
master’s degree in Engineering from Northeastern and a
new career opportunity to work for CDM Smith. At CDM
Smith, my projects generally focused on collection
systems projects for municipal clients. The project work
varied widely including Municipal Separate Storm Sewer
System (MS4) compliance, stream restorations, pump
station design, Sewer System Evaluation Survey (SSES),
Long Term Preventative Maintenance Plans (LTPMP),
Emergency Response Plans, open excavation and
trenchless rehabilitation programs, and many other
awesome engineering adventures!

On October 1 st , I started my new career at Wright-Pierce. I am very excited that my project work will
now predominately focus on improving infrastructure for municipalities across my homeland, the state
of New Hampshire!
Before starting my new job at Wright-Pierce, I took the opportunity to travel the northern section of the
continuous US visiting 14 nations parks that were generally along the I-90 corridor. On this trip I had the
opportunity to see beautiful landscapes; crazy animals including big horned sheep, bears, and many
many bison; and beautiful views of the milky way.
I am excited for what the next year will bring and hope to see you at some of the upcoming ASCE
events!
