Page 7 THE MAGAZINE ROOM OL ‘SKOOL VS NEW SCHOOL Welcome to the new format of Gauge Magazine! This change of scenery is long overdue. But sometimes things just don’t work out and you have to wait for the good things to come to you. Gauge Magazine has been online now for over 11 years and continues to grow with each and every year. Some great online automotive magazines and print magazines have come and gone in the past decade. Yet, several great ones still are on the web and in print and growing as we are. The question is: where will the future take us? What is going to be the next best thing on the web? Or where is the automotive industry headed? What new trends are coming our way or what old trends are coming back? All we can do is sit back, pop the top on a cold one and see what happens. Now for a little history about Gauge Magazine. Back in 1997 Donnie Babb built his first Mini Truck better known as “Project Lo Lumber” and it graced the cover of Mini Truckin magazine in July of 1999. This inspired Donnie to start Gauge Magazine with the help of some friends and family over a decade ago. The very first feature in the magazine was “Ramster” a Dodge D50 built by the legendary Todd Wilt who is still customizing rides today and was also on the cover of Mini Truckin in 2002. Ironically I shot that feature for Todd back in the day, and those images were used in the very first issue of Gauge. Here we are today more than 11 years later starting a new era. This is our 143rd issue! On the cover we have Donnie’s “Project Lo Lumber” that has never been in an issue of Gauge and still looks great today. Plus “Project 6 Pack” previously known as “Ramster” currently owned and redone from the ground up by John Farr. So the 2 vehicles that sort of started it all when it comes to Gauge Magazine share the November 2010 cover. Here I am shooting the same truck years later! It’s been good times being involved with Gauge Magazine and Donnie Babb for all these years. Although the magazine portion of the website will stay monthly, our new format for the rest of the site means much more frequent updates so make sure to check us out at least once a week for new shows, features, videos and news. Until next Month - Start shopping for X-mas presents, stay warm, put the lawn mower away and remember there is no sex in the champagne room, at least in most clubs!
