Mauritius island promotion: MTPA’S budget goes to Rs 560 million
Our tourism office (MTPA) will have more resources for the promotion of the destination.
Its operating budget will increase from Rs 390 million to Rs 560 million as was announced
by the Minister of Finance, Hon. Vishnu Lutchmeenaraidoo during the presentation of
the 2015-2016 budget.
UK Market: Focus group with the travel trade in
London
The (MTPA organised a Minister’s Forum in London, UK
in March, before their visit to ITB in Berlin to discuss the
UK market conditions and future tourism plans.
Some tour operators from UK, airline partners and
hoteliers were invited to join in the debate. In addition,
the forum covered three main areas: plans for low season, airlift capacity and the
strengthening of the promotion of the island’s USPs. Indeed, Mauritius provides a large
variety of experiences for couples and families.
The UK market has been performing well as it reached 115,326 tourists in 2014 (+17.7%).
For 2015, a growth of 10% with 126,859 tourists is expected.
