The 'Vanilla Islands "continue to grow
The Vanilla Islands participated in ITB Berlin to continue to
mobilise the tour operators on the commercialisation of
combination of the islands of the Indian Ocean.
This action is part of a process that started several months
ago and which is bearing its fruits. Thus in 2014, the
combination including at least one island in the Indian Ocean increased by over 15%.
The idea to market two destinations in one trip is gaining ground. Today, nearly 11% of
total tourist arrivals in the Indian Ocean is through a combined package.
Major emitting countries are still mainly European but the BRICS are gaining ground.

- Germany
- Italy
- India
The Vanilla Islands are a group promoting Islands of the Indian Ocean, namely Comoros,
Madagascar, Maldives, Mauritius, Mayotte, Reunion and Seychelles. This association
promotes the idea of combining several destinations in one trip as a vector of development.
This concept has been hailed by 2011 from the World Tourism Organization by leaving a
distinction the President of the Republic of Seychelles, Mr. James Michel and the
Chairman of the Meeting Region, Mr. Didier ROBERT.
