A LETTER FROM

OUR LEADER

It’ s an exciting time to be at Home of the Innocents, and I am truly honored to serve as a leader for this passionate and dedicated team. It’ s hard to believe we’ ve already passed the halfway mark of 2025. The first part of the year has brought so many reasons to celebrate, and we’ re thrilled to share just a few of those moments with you, our supporters, who make it all possible.
In January, we kicked off the year with the groundbreaking of our expanded Kosair for Kids Complex Care Center, ensuring residents with complex medical needs will always have the care and quality of life they’ ve come to know. Despite some unpredictable Louisville weather, construction has continued steadily. We’ re especially grateful to Messer Construction Co. for not only their professional expertise but also for embracing our mission through volunteerism and deeper involvement.
June brought the return of one of our most celebrated traditions, the Heroes for the Home breakfast, where we honored longtime supporter, Amy Spears, with the Home’ s first-ever Lifetime Achievement Award. This inspiring event welcomed nearly 1,000 compassionate advocates to the Kentucky International Convention Center to support children and families in our community and raised more than $ 742,000. It was a powerful reminder of what we can accomplish when we all work toward a common goal and showcased the Home’ s commitment to family-focused care.
Day in and day out, your generosity fuels the impact programs like Safe Exchange can have on a family. Last year, Safe Exchange, which offers supervised custody exchanges at no cost, served 53 families allowing for more than 1,400 incident-free exchanges between guardians.
As we look ahead to the rest of 2025, I feel a deep sense of hope and determination. With your support, we’ ll continue to be the change our state’ s child welfare system needs.
Thank you for your trust in the Home, your generosity, and for the heart you have for the children and families we serve.
