EVENT RECAP

TOPPING OFF CEREMONY

Building a Forever Home

On August 7, we gathered to celebrate an important moment in the expansion of the Kosair for Kids Complex Care Center( KCC)— the placement of the final beam in the building’ s structure. Team members, residents, and community supporters— including the generous donors who made this project possible— gathered to sign the steel beam and witness it being lifted into place.
This tradition, dating back centuries, symbolizes both the strength of the structure and the unity of the community behind it. For us, it was a powerful reminder of why we are doing this work.
This expansion is more than bricks, steel, and concrete; it’ s a promise to children and young adults with medical complexities that they will have a safe, loving, and permanent home where their needs are met, every day, for as long as they need it.

A Parent’ s Relief, A Child’ s Future

At the ceremony, we shared a heartfelt letter from Anne Weaver, the mother of Trystan, our Complex Care Center’ s oldest resident. Trystan came to the Home at age 14 and has thrived here for the past 14 years.
In her letter, Anne expressed how this expansion means that Trystan— and others like him— will never have to leave when they reach a certain age. She described this as“ a big breath of fresh air " and " a sense of total relief,” knowing her son will always have the care and support he needs.
This sense of security and joy— that’ s what you make possible.
