A LOT IN LIFE
There are two types of people walking around the planet at this very moment. There are those who are living for the things of this world. They're concerned with what they can acquire and keep- earthly portion and inheritance. All their energies and exertions are aimed at securing their lot in this life. But there's another group of people. They too live in this world, but they aren't living for it. Their lot doesn't consist of anything that can be produced or possessed on planet earth. Their lot is the Lord; He is their portion and inheritance. Consider the difference between these two lots. One will eventually end; the other will exist eternally. One is depreciating daily; the other is always appreciating. One is limited; the other is limitless. One is subject to being stolen; the other is beyond secure. One is eroding; the other is emerging.
Which lot do you want?
It's an obvious answer for most, and if we're wise we'll not only say that it's better to live for the Lord, we'll actually order our lives in a way that reflects it. Our agendas and priorities will be a lot more God-oriented, our bank statements will include more causes for His Kingdom, and when it comes to that great gauge that measures all of us-our time-more and more of it will be spent on Him. This may sound like a lot, but not really when one considers the lot that belongs to those who live for the Lord.
