Traditional Contact Driven Model vs . Quality-Driven Supervision Model
By moving to a Quality-Driven supervision model , Community Supervision Officers are given credit for all supervision activities performed on a particular supervision case , not just concluding a contact . In this new paradigm , officers are held accountable for quality service delivery rather than simply meeting contact requirements . Officers are expected to maximize their time to perform activities that are most associated with providing positive outcomes and improving public safety , not just ensuring that a contact was made . Measuring the interaction between supervisee and officer means more focus oriented meetings and resource connection . Furthermore , the usage of Enhanced Supervision principles were more likely to be implemented allowing officers to more skillfully deploy the usage of incentives and deterrents to enforce change . Under the Quality- Driven supervision model , individuals with the greatest likelihood to fail receive the most attention . This is accomplished by frontloading supervision within the first 90 days . During this timeframe , there is a resolute concentration on a client ’ s needs and court-ordered conditions , with the incentive that reporting requirements decrease and increase based on an individual ’ s progress .
DCS Centralized Reporting Unit
The DCS Centralized Reporting Unit ( CRU ) has several responsibilities . The main responsibility of the CRU is call handling . Supervisees are provided a telephone number and receive adequate instructions to call each month to report . While on the line , the supervisee is asked a series of questions . Determining their response to the questions , the supervisee may be transferred to a live call center agent . It is noteworthy to mention that the Centralized Reporting Unit does not replace officer supervision ; instead , it enhances supervision and gives some added responsibility to the supervisee . It is a modified reporting method for individuals that have been classified as low-risk .
