Mediterranean Diet -
This includes people of Greece, Itlay and Spain.
Their food is based off of local produce and is dependant on the season. Traditionally they eat Fruits, vegetables, whole grains, legumes, nuts and olive oil. Fish, poultry and red wine are ate in moderation; where as red meat, salt and sugar are rarely ate. A Mediterranean diet has been shown to lower the risk of cardiovascular disease and reverse diabetes, it may also help people lose weight.
New Noridic Diet -
Similar to the Mediterranean diet it emphasizes whole grains, fruits, vegetables, eggs, oil and seafood; however, the Nordic diet uses rapeseed oil instead of olive oil. This diet consists of whole grain cereals, local fruits and berries, cruciferous and root vegetables like brussels sprouts, broccoli, turnips, parsnips and beets, rapeseed oil, vegetable oil-based margarine; and low-fat dairy like milk. Meats include beef, pork, lamb and reindeer, while seafood includes herring, mackerel and salmon. The few desserts in the diet include baked goods made with oats, or jam. Herbs are also used such as parsley, dil, mustard, horseradish and chives. This diet had a role in , turning off genes related to inflammation. It also helped people lose weight, but still have a higher satisfaction. The risk of type 2 diabetes is also reduced, all while helping the local markets.
