known professionally as Eddie
Albert, was an American actor
and activist. H e was nominated
for the Academy Award for Best
Supporting Actor in 1954 for his
performance in Roman H oliday,
and in 1973 for T he H eartbreak
K id.
O ther well-known screen roles
of his include Bing Edwards in
the Brother R at films, traveling
salesman Ali H akim in the
musical Oklahoma!, and the
sadistic prison warden in 1974's
T he Longest Yard. H e starred as
Oliver Wendell Douglas in the
1960s
television
situation
comedy Green Acres and as
Frank M acBride in the 1970s
crime drama Switch. H e also had
a recurring role as Carlton Travis
on Falcon Crest, opposite Jane
Wyman.

American actress. H er almost
60-year career crossed most
media frontiers with both
supporting and leading roles, but
to younger audiences she may be
best-remembered for playing the

character, a high school teacher,
on O ur M iss Brooks, and as the
R ydell H igh School principal in
both Grease and Grease 2.
