The Aerospace Joint Apprenticeship Committee ( AJAC ) launched in 2008 to skill-up the advanced manufacturing workforce through registered apprenticeship . AJAC developed 10 apprenticeship programs to train frontline workers interested in pursuing career advancement opportunities in occupations such as machinist and industrial maintenance for industries including food processing , packaging and assembly , aerospace , biomedical , defense , and space .
State funding allows AJAC to offer apprenticeship training to employers at no cost ; because our programs also include college credits , apprentices earn up to 15 college credits per year at a 50 % reduced tuition rate . AJAC serves 400 apprentices per year at close to 300 companies .
