O n the defense side, Sarah Garrison with the Pacific Northwest Defense Coalition (PNDC), is interested in aerospace clusters because she wants to see the industry working together and not against each other. “I wanted to have a seat at the table and learn, but not necessarily direct or come with pre-conceived notions.” She noted that she partners with several organizations already, and she wants to see partnerships growing and getting stronger. One area of interest for her is to expand with British and French groups. Many of the attendees felt that it would be better to mobilize some of these organizations, in the hope that they can offer a better value proposition to Washington’s aerospace manufacturers, safely ensuring a long-term future. Melanie Jordan with PNAA warmly offered to the group that the convening of these organizations continues to occur. Her outreach was an olive branch to many and the sunny yellow jacket may have helped matters.
