Echodyne will have more announcements about product improvements during the fourth quarter , McCloskey said – potentially at the Association of the United States Army conference and expo in Washington , D . C ., in October .
Without disclosing specifics , McCloskey said that Echodyne ’ s radars to date have been built with “ a certain sort of range optimized for current use .”
Customers have been asking for something “ bigger , better , faster ,” he said , so the company has been working on that .
There also are further software upgrades in the works , he said , that will make it easier to deploy units in a network .
All in all , the announcements will signal “ the maturity of our offerings in a way that will be both on the hardware and software side .”
While security and surveillance systems have been the big story so far in 2021 , the company ’ s future will come from things that fly , Frankenberg said .
“ Drones and helping drones navigate safely — that ’ s really pointing in a direction that ’ s going to start growing like mad ,” he said . “ It ’ s a whole new market for our radars .”
