Several test projects have already been conducted in the Sunnyside area . ( Figure 8 ) illustrates a detailed 3D photogrammetric scan of the Sunnyside Airport in support of the 14 CFR Part 77 obstruction assessment . AeroTEC , Inc . was contracted by WS- DOT Aviation to conduct the successful proof-of-concept procedure . This was the first usage of such technology within Washington State for the purpose of satisfying Part 77 regulations , and one of the first in the country .
Initial state funding has been procured for the design and construction of infrastructure to support UAS testing in the Sunnyside region , with the surrounding area providing a unique environment to support safe UAS operations , ( Figure 9 ). Sunnyside is targeting end of year 2020 for completion of the initial hangar .
