Boeing Employees Respond to COVID-19
Washington is home to nearly half of Boeing’s
employees, and the first state in the
country to be hit hard by COVID-19. The
company’s employees saw the need around
them and took action to ensure their local
communities are being supported during the
pandemic.
Together, Boeing and its employees have
contributed more than one million dollars
to support hunger-relief efforts in Washington
State. The funds are part of a concerted
effort to assist the vastly increased numbers
of local families struggling due to lost jobs
or income, school children needing greater
access to meals and vulnerable seniors
requiring safe food delivery as a result of
COVID-19.

Throughout the month of March, Boeing
held its annual Food & Essentials Drive in
the Puget Sound region. This year’s drive
raised more than 400,000 dollars — double
the amount raised last year. This total
includes funds provided by Boeing via the
company’s gift match program. Those funds
will provide more than three million pounds
of food to local families in need.
Additionally, the Puget Sound chapter of
the Employees Community Fund of Boeing
(ECF) approved two special funding grants
totaling 750,000 dollars to Northwest
Harvest and Food Lifeline in April. These
two organizations are working together in
a coordinated effort to distribute food and
supplies to food banks and pantries across
our cities and rural communities.
