Nancy White — President Custom Interface, Inc., Bingen, WA Chinook Enterprises’ mission makes them unique from other manufacturing companies in the Northwest. Chinook is a non-profit designed to operate as a business with a social mission to support full participation in community life for people with disabilities or other barriers. A key part of full participation is successful employment where people’s abilities match opportunities at local businesses. Chinook serves their local community as a hub for both people with disabilities searching for employment, as well as the companies seeking to hire them. This service became a reality when their founder, Rob Martin, became deeply engaged at the state level to develop support for disability employment programs. Today, Chinook generates revenue through employment services, manufacturing, and landscape maintenance. This diversity in business helps stabilize the mission for longterm benefit to the community. 32 NORTHWEST AEROSPACE NEWS
