Northwest Life will always bring about challenges. Some are big; some are small and every once in a while we land upon one that is monumental. Currently it seems like a unique blend of all of the above, with the 737 Max, Covid-19 and supply chain disruptions associated with both. Call me an optimist but I am seeing this through the lens of a Rocky movie. When the punches are devastating and they keep coming blow after blow and you might think it is the end, you dig deep and find the inner strength to get back up and use the talents you have developed in years of building and strengthening your businesses and you fight back with everything you have. It is with that fortitude that we will come out winners in the end. Some things have not changed. The planet still has more people that want to travel than we have equipment for and the personnel to build it. We have taken two steps back for sure, but the industry is resilient and inventive and will get back on its feet soon enough. So what can we do in the meanwhile? We support each other as best we can. This section of Northwest Aerospace News shares just a few companies rising above their normal business practices of just a few weeks ago, to completely new and much-needed resources today. Yet it barely scratches the surface of the truly inspirational worldwide efforts by our industry to pivot and become problem solvers. The aerospace industry is unique in that we not only have the resources to make the needed medical supplies but we also have the means to transport and deliver. I am inspired by the collaboration that is being exhibited and coordinated in mere days, to become heroes to many deserving people on the front lines. We are also featuring a section for those companies that have invested thousands of dollars to attend the Farnborough Show in hopes of developing new partnerships, only to have that show cancelled as has happened to so many others. We want to give them the best exposure we can with our reach to the aerospace industry. Rest assured, that we resolve to be an ongoing partner by sharing your stories in both our traditional and newly developed formats to help us get up off the canvas and fight back with everything we have. My Scottish Clan Cameron has a quote on our crest in Gaelic “Aonaibh Ri Chéile,” which means “Let Us Unite.” It seems an appropriate message today. Dean Cameron Publisher N 28 NORTHWEST AEROSPACE NEWS
