It amazes me that in the span of three generations we have launched the first flight , to now seeing regular space travel — and even space travel with the general public ! My grandfather was born the same year as the Wright brothers ’ first flight . Now we are embarking on visions of life in space and on other planets .
In this issue Boeing recounts some of its early history in the Renton manufacturing facility with some iconic aircraft . How fast technology has advanced . This history seems so long ago and yet these were the aircraft of my youth ( OK ... no “ old ” jokes please ).
With a taste of Boeing history in our minds we leap into Blue Origin and their Orbital Reef concept . With rocketry today , the feasibility of regular travel to and from a new space station facility is not a far-fetched fantasy but rather a “ when will it be done ” reality .
We truly live in an amazing time in history with so many advancements in manufacturing resources , technological innovation and pure entrepreneurial spirit . We count ourselves fortunate each day to be a bridge for not only bringing you the news of our industry but also the resources for those who need them .
