Prior to the commercial aerospace world being turned upside down due to MCAS and Covid-19 , the big story was the “ Silver Tsunami ” and how the industry was going to deal with the fast retiring wave of experience and the expected labor shortage and increasing demand for production .
Obviously , that was not the issue in 2020 . Instead , much talent was furloughed and had to find new careers elsewhere in hungry industries like space , UAS / UAV , military , and other sectors such as medical . This has become a good news / bad news scenario . The good news : The domestic travel demand is expected to soon exceed pre-COVID numbers . Airlines are pulling aircraft out of storage and adding routes and even ordering new aircraft . The bad news : Many companies are trying to hire the help they need to meet new demands and cannot find the resources .
So here we are , needing to ramp up production and develop the resources needed for not only today but the original increased demand of pre-2020 . We are once again faced with how to support the demand with new technology , reduced human labor resources and creative ways to hire the needed personnel to grow our businesses . There are no easy answers to this issue . However , there can be creative ways to approach it .
“ When there is a storm approaching and the harbor is full , find a river .”
We are excited to see a fast recovery and we have no doubt the collective creative genius this industry has proven to exhibit will prevail .
As always , we will be sharing and supporting the dedicated , hardworking , and inspirational efforts that your businesses model daily .
