A life in aviation was a forgone conclusion from the beginning .
Some of my earliest memories are of my father returning from an international trip with the Air Guard as flight engineer on a KC-97 refueler , and summer evening flights in an open-sided Cub . Those early influences seeded both the appreciation for the elegance and complexity of flight , as well as the sense of a much bigger world than my home town outside of Dallas , Texas .

Before pursuing my engineering degree , I chose to obtain my airframe and powerplant mechanics license to pick up a tactical skill and add practical knowledge to my future academic training . Lessons learned at that time continue to echo in my customer-focused nature within business — somewhere in the world is an end user who is relying on practical engineering and business decisions to keep them safe and their mission on plan .
