We miss our friends at Boeing in this edition, but we look forward to bringing them back in the next issue. However, we are pleased with the opportunity to introduce you to a good friend and aviation artist, Rick Herter (OK people … no fighting over the cool poster!) Rick’s art will become a regular inclusion in our magazine. Six aerospace com- panies, throughout the year, will sponsor a beautiful collectible poster created by this world-renowned artist. I expect they will decorate many an office! Oftentimes we take for granted the parts we see on an aircraft. We may have no idea what processes are used to build the structure or the aesthetic. It is always an eye-opening revelation to learn how things we think may be simple — such as a bracket — are made, until we actually learn how companies build them and the number of talented and dedicated suppliers needed to support them. In my manufacturing career, it was a well-worn comment when giving a plant tour that visitors might say “I had no idea how (fill in the blank) were made.” We look forward to sharing some of that knowledge. It is exciting to be able to reveal the many intricacies the aerospace industry has to teach us.
