and perform contract R&D to
assess new parts, processes and
materials as well as in-house
developments.
When hiring, ATC Manufactur-
ing is looking for people with
basic manufacturing skills,

“Because thermoplastic
composites is a new and
growing area, you typically
don’t find people with this
skill set,” said Leach.
Despite the thermoplastic com-
ponents on Boeing aircraft, Jor-
genson said there is still not a
wide adoption of the products.
They see more thermoplastic
parts on future aircraft designs.
They said that Embraer and
Airbus are using thermoplas-
tics, “Boeing has jumped ahead
on the use of unidirectional
tapes,” said Leach.
Jorgenson is a true entrepre-
neur, and a bit of a rebel, in that
he loves to tinker and experi-
ment to create new products.

He has developed a solid company
through his admitted “stubbornness,”
and is nearing retirement. But he said
that the company is in good hands and
he will continue to be involved.
