Ever since time began , we have lived in a world of cycles . I like to call it “ The Pendulum Theory .” When times are great , something happens to pull it back ; when times are tough , opportunities present themselves to bring us back to prosperity .
The best we can do is try to be prepared , knowing this . We have come ( and are still emerging ) from challenging times . However , positive signs are that as the population continues to grow , more people are desiring to travel worldwide . And , the aircraft fleet is aging and in need of modernization and efficiency .
These facts , coupled with the new advances in space and aerospace technology we are experiencing — on an almost daily basis — are creating demand .
Shop modernization is helping offset the need for more labor and is creating cells that are cost efficient and profitable . Companies that can respond to the need will grow , and hopefully the years of downturn will be conversations over coffee .
Don ’ t let me paint too rosy of a picture . The decisions , capital expense , and risk are all there . As an industry , though , my views are optimistic that the pendulum has begun swinging back to better times !
