Analysts such as acclaimed industry expert Richard Aboulafia outlined a cautiously optimistic future , citing increased commercial production rates , expanding defense budgets , continued MRO activity with freighter conversions , new supply chains serving public and private space , UAS & UAM advancements , along with a strong demand for business jets . But he also cautioned against putting all your eggs in one basket , emphasizing the need to diversify portfolios . That point was underscored at the B2B Suppliers Fair . Several successful companies showcased their expanded range of offerings , many credited with getting them through the pandemic and positioning them for the future .
Speaking of diversity , the conference showcased the invaluable variety of the Cluster membership . There was strong representation from across the spectrum of experiences , backgrounds , gender , ethnicity , and more . That diversity is critical for sustaining and growing the success of our entire ecosystem . It ’ s a longstanding commitment the PNAA will continue to foster .
Aboulafia and others reiterated the need for collaboration within the entire Aerospace Cluster , from sharing new technologies to partnering on new business opportunities .
Since there will be demands on the supply chain from so many different sectors in aerospace , the need for collaboration is more critical than ever . PNAA will continue to drive that collaboration through events and initiatives throughout the year . Those will include resurrecting the CEO roundtables , where the essential heart issues are addressed , and programs created to support the challenges that are being faced in the industry .
Afternoon receptions celebrated Women in Aerospace . Networking breaks served as the platform for creating and strengthening business relationships and recognition was given to several individuals and companies who had distinguished themselves through their valuable contributions to the aerospace industry at the Excellence in the Aerospace Industry Awards Banquet . The awards were given to Company of the year – Sekisui Aerospace , Executive of the Year Tom Brosius ( recently retired ) of Orion Industries , Chair Award to Dean Cameron of Northwest Aerospace News , and the Inspire award given to the Museum of Flight .
After the conference , armed with new information and a briefcase full of contacts , it was evident that without a doubt , the highlight and most valuable asset of PNAA ’ s 21st Aerospace Conference was the opportunity to share ( in-person ) aerospace camaraderie and friendship once again .
