Hacker said that while Central Washington University is also involved , they don ’ t currently have a funded engineering project , but JCATI funds a capstone project for them . She also noted that they are working to loop in Eastern Washington University in Cheney , Washington ( outside of Spokane ) and Evergreen State College in Olympia , Washington with capstone projects .
Another activity that is generally well-known in Washington ’ s aerospace industry is the annual conference called the JCATI Symposium . It was alternately held between the Spokane and Seattle regions . Starting in 2020 , the event went to a virtual platform .
Hacker felt the 2020 conference went well , and that the participants were highly engaged in the event . She said that while it can be hard to travel to the event , an online format makes it easier . She said that the virtual exhibition hall was possibly more engaging than in person because students were able to create online project posters and videos .
