According to their website , they specialize in machined parts , skins , sheet metal products , assemblies , kitting and JIT products ( Damar Aerosystems - A Senior Aerospace Corporation with AS9100 and ISO 9001 Certifications ).
Most of their work is aluminum machining , which accounts for 70-80 percent of the aircraft structure . But London said that they are a build-toprint shop and all materials are dictated by Boeing and other OEMs .
Although Damar has been reliant on Boeing , they are also looking toward the space industry for future work .
Both London and Millar are targeting space companies , specifically the communication satellite industry . London said , “ There ’ s growth to be had in this industry . We are a production house , and the space market is looking for good capabilities with high quality and speed to market .” He added that the space industry is continuing to develop suppliers and the satellite industry would be a good fit for them due to the volume and type of parts needed .
Now , they are also actively pursuing cybersecurity certification ( CMMC ), which will help with government work to ensure that government secrets are not leaked .
That designation , along with AS9100 and other certifications , will allow them to continue to grow .
They look foward to the future with excitement , but also noted that , like many businesses , they were affected by the pandemic . They had to furlough many employees and are now working to hire them back .
As they continue to ramp up , they also have military work through the Boeing Military Division ( BDS ), making mechanical assemblies and sheet metal parts . They are also looking at the latest and greatest machinery as continual vertical integration lends its hand to other companies ; they want to be a one-stop-shop .
