T
he world of composites is not the only industry
recognizing this unmatched technology. A Lock-
heed Martin company, Sikorsky, recently announced
Continuous Composites as their 9th Entrepreneurial
Challenge winner. Led by Sikorsky Innovations, this
recognition aims to accelerate disruptive technology
concepts with applications to the aerospace industry.
“This award validates CF3D technology has the power
to become an industry leader among some of the top
innovators in the world of aerospace,” said Alvarado.
“We are deliberately advancing towards commer-
cialization by fostering strategic initiatives such as
printing carbon-bonded-carbon composites used in hy-
personic applications, where both extremely high heat
and strength are required.” Continuous Composites’
CF3D technology is no pie in the sky and its foothold
across a range of industries is only getting stronger
and deserves every bit of attention along the way.

TACTICAL TEAM UP
With Continuous Composites gaining traction, part-
nerships are building as the company advances toward
commercializing CF3D. This year, they announced
their strategic partnership with Spatial Corp., a Das-
sault Systèmes subsidiary. “Our CF3D process enables
true 3D printing, moving beyond the traditional stack-
ing of 2D layers to create the final product. As a result,
we needed innovative software to drive our patented
CF3D process,” said Alvarado. The partnerships do
not stop there.
The recent announcement of Continuous Composites
strategic partnership with Arkema is a significant
step forward telegraphing the industry’s belief in
CF3D. With the flexibility and tailorability of CF3D,
a strategic partnership on materials development and
commercialization certainly makes sense. As a leader
and designer of materials and innovative solutions,
Arkema shapes materials and creates new uses to
accelerate its customers’ performance. Through its
Sartomer business line, Arkema announced their
partnership with Continuous Composites by entering
into a joint development agreement to combine CF3D
with their photocurable resin solutions. This partner-
ship will expand high performance solutions to the 3D
printing of composites.
