GROWING UP AND GROWING OUT Change rarely comes easily, or all at once. It is the work of incremental success and building momentum in the right direction. This is the story of Continuous Composites! From the beginning, their team has strategi- cally grown the company by focusing on the base and expanding from there. Founded in 2015, Continuous Composites operated in stealth mode based out of their sister compa- ny, McAllister Technical Services, while the intellectual property and business were pur- posefully developed. In 2017, after securing the base, Continuous Composites emerged from behind closed doors and relocated their headquarters to downtown Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, where CF3D would be revealed. Today, Continuous Composites is further expanding their headquarters to showcase the future of mainstream manufacturing. Located in the heart of the community, Continuous Composites has created an infectious buzz around their technology and local economic support, attracting top talent and visits from Fortune 100 companies around the world. 54 NORTHWEST AEROSPACE NEWS While the technology is their initial draw to Coeur d’Alene, the teams’ approach to business and community keeps them coming back. When traveling, Co-Founder and CEO Tyler Alvarado often hears “Why Coeur d’Alene?” when asked why Continuous Composites chooses to stay in the quaint tourist town instead of relocating to a major urban city, to which he responds, “Why not Coeur d’Alene?” Unsurprisingly, it only takes one visit to Continuous Composites for customers to understand that answer. The Continuous Composites team approaches every angle of the busi- ness with integrity and community at the forefront. The company is currently growing its headquarters with the latest facility addition, a restored warehouse adjacent to their historically preserved train station and headquarters. The warehouse hosts industrial-size robots on linear rails and increases the footprint of Continuous Composites campus by an additional 7,500 square feet. Build volumes now reach 50’ x 15’ x 15’ with state-of-the-art industrial motion platforms as well as Continuous Composites most advanced print heads. “We are advancing our CF3D technology to commercialization meeting the needs of our strategic customers. With our new warehouse we are growing out beyond the pro- totype level and revealing the immense flexibility and scalability CF3D introduces,” says Alvarado. As part of a broader mission, Continuous Composites seeks to challenge industry norms and keep its roots in the “upper-left” where the technology humbly began.
