hey have a focus of delivering the highest speed AFP manu-
facturing, equivalent to high speed machining at 4000”/min, and
more importantly, the highest utilized AFP equipment.
In the short term, he is looking for machine-proof inspection that
is so dialed-in that, “If the machine says it’s good, it can proceed
autonomously without human intervention.”
Electroimpact’s customers are diverse. According to http://www.

The company has been heavily invested in engineering and robot-
ics competitions including at the high school and college level.
They also provide regular industry tours of the Mukilteo facility.
Scarborough, although younger in his career, has found a home at
Electroimpact. Hempstead said that turnover is low, and although
the company is male dominated, they are always seeking to hire
more female engineers.

“We don’t practice preferential hiring — everyone must come
in through the front door and go through the testing. We aren’t
going to hire someone to do that work that isn’t qualified. It is a
marketing exercise to increase the number of females to apply for
the jobs. We are maintaining the same standard for all appli-
cants,” said Hempstead.
He added, that for applicants that are, “self-governing, self-moti-
vated, self-confident, responsible, integrated, involved, team-ori-
ented, and want to volunteer to be on projects,” they might be
a good fit at Electroimpact — that is, if you are willing to take
a call from a client after 17 years and are prepared to get up to
speed on the project you sold to them!
