s part of a national network of finishing shops, the Va-
lence Surface Technologies centers of excellence in Everett
and Seattle provide their customers with several additional
benefits. Customers with manufacturing facilities in mul-
tiple locations can expect the same high standards, quality
products and customer service across all Valence facilities.
Shared best practices, efficiencies of scale for equipment
and technology upgrades, and a leadership team of industry
experts enable Valence facilities in the Pacific Northwest
to be responsive and forward-thinking in serving their
customers big and small.
The surface finishing conglomerate was started by Tex-
as-based investment group Trive Capital. Trive first
partnered with Coast Plating and Coastline Metal Finishing
in Southern California in 2013 and went on to acquire six
other companies under the Valence Surface Technologies
umbrella, establishing a presence in California, Georgia,
Kansas, Oklahoma, and Washington — all states with
active aerospace manufacturing hubs. Each location offers
a full suite of finishing capabilities for the commercial
aviation, business aviation, defense, and space markets.

In September of 2019, Trive sold its interest in Valence to
investment firms ATL Partners (ATL) and British Columbia
Investment Management Corporation (BCI). The two firms
plan to maintain Valence’s existing leadership team and con-
tinue to seek opportunities for growth. In a press release an-
nouncing the sale, ATL founding partner and manager, Frank
Nash said, “ATL has followed the Valence story since the
beginning and we are very impressed with the business that
the Valence management team has built. We believe there are
many opportunities for growth in the company, through both
organic initiatives and strategic add-on acquisitions, and
we are excited to support the Valence management team as
they execute their strategic vision for the company over the
coming years.”
