Managing missions around the world
Tremain said that the USCG missions are generally
off the coast of Central and South America, seizing
contraband, offering border security and force protec-
tion. Insitu currently has a contract with Shell Oil in
Australia for pipeline surveillance and has previously
flown in the Artic for wildlife monitoring and in the
U.S. for wildlife and fire management. “When moni-
toring wildfires, the ScanEagle is looking for hotspots
in the fire via infrared cameras — we can cut through
the clutter and see the hottest part of the fire. It also
allows us to see how the fire is moving and how the
fire is responding to efforts by firefighters.”
Employees in Washington
Bingen, Washington is in the southwestern part of
Washington near the Oregon border. The area is rural
and is across the Columbia River from Hood River, a
popular tourist location for vineyards, breweries and
wind surfing. The company employs 1,500 world-
wide, with about 1,000 employees residing in the
Bingen and Hood River area.
