Boeing first purchased VERICUT software in the early 1990s . It was coincidently during the same year that I joined CGTech that Boeing asked us to simulate an automated fiber placement ( AFP ) machine being used to develop fuselage sections of the 7E7 , later named the 787 Dreamliner . This project progressed in 2005 to include the development of an offline programming solution for AFP machines . Following multiple years of testing and development , this software is being used by many aerospace and defense OEMs and their suppliers . Unfortunately for my marketing efforts , strict confidentiality agreements prevent us from sharing details of most of these exciting programs .
In 2016 CGTech ’ s Pacific Northwest sales engineer announced his retirement and many of my colleagues were surprised when I put my hand up to apply for his position .
Thanks to our diverse customer base and my experience writing case studies , I was exposed to both innovative technologies and the demands many manufacturers face . After more than a dozen years managing CGTech ’ s marketing strategy , now instead of writing about how customers overcame a challenge , this was an opportunity to help them with the solution . It has been incredibly motivating to witness first-hand how important our software is to those who rely on it daily .

There have been zero regrets in taking on a sales role . I love being in the Pacific Northwest and have made some great friends along the way . One of my first steps was to get CGTech signed up with the Pacific Northwest Aerospace Association ( PNAA ). I greatly value the meaningful relationships that have resulted . Being CGTech ’ s Boeing global account manager has opened the door to visit and tour most of its manufacturing sites throughout the Puget Sound area and beyond . As I marvel at the technology that goes into the production of modern aircraft , I can ’ t help but think back to the little boy who marveled at the planes landing over his great-grandmother ’ s past home .
Curiosity does not allow me to stay still for too long . In May 2021 I began transitioning into a newly created position at CGTech . As the new strategic partnership manager , I ’ m focused on supporting additional key customers like Boeing , as well as global industry partnerships . When a door has a keyhole , I can ’ t help but peek to see what ’ s on the other side .
