The Importance of Investing in Our Future Aerospace Workforce Today

When it comes to following trends in business , a couple of common themes show that history tends to repeat itself and that the pendulum tends to swing . It is hard to believe that just a few years ago , the largest challenge we faced in aerospace manufacturing in the Northwest was a shortage of workforce talent . Over these past couple of years , most aerospace manufacturing companies have faced the opposite , with many aerospace companies reducing their staffing levels by 10 to 50 percent . And through the turbulence the industry has experienced , many of these companies have focused on pivoting to maintain revenues and their staffing to the best of their abilities .

PNAA SPOTLIGHT
Earlier this year at the Pacific Northwest Aerospace Alliance ( PNAA ) Advance 2021 conference , Richard Aboulafia of the Teal Group shared an “ optimistic ” perspective in his predictions that the aerospace manufacturing industry may begin to rebound as early as this summer . As we have been leading up to summer , we have indeed started to see the signs of aerospace recovery . Although we have not yet returned to our pre-COVID production rates , the OEMs are moving in that direction and we have seen considerable increases in air travel .
