CRANE
Aerospace & Electronics
By Bryan Corliss
At the Crane Aerospace & Electronics
campus in Lynnwood, Washington, engineers
design and technicians build parts
for machines that will work in the vastness
of space beyond Pluto — or in the tiny
space inside a child’s cochlea.
A diverse customer base that includes
commercial and military aviation, satellites
and medical devices means Crane
Aerospace — which has experienced rapid
growth in the past decade — is positioned
to weather the current COVID crisis,
executives said.
“We’ve been pretty fortunate. The pandemic
hasn’t affected us to the extent of
other businesses we’ve seen,” said Vice
President and General Manager Joseph
Mundinger. “We haven’t backed off the
pace at all. This should be a good year for
our business. We need our supply chain to
be robust.”
Crane Aerospace & Electronics is part of
the larger Crane Co., a Connecticut-based
diverse industrial conglomerate that has
divisions manufacturing products as varied
as process valves and pumps, to soda
vending machines.
Lynnwood is the headquarters for the
aerospace division, and also home to three
separate operating units: Sensing and
Power Systems, Modular Power and Fluid
Management. The three business units
serve a diverse array of customers, providing
power converters, proximity sensors
and fuel-flow management systems.
