T
he newest facility in Albany, Oregon contains a
major capital investment with a Quintus Mega-Hip,
which fits into the 25,000-square-foot facility, built
in late 2019. Hipping is high pressure heat treat-
ment, where the porosity in the part is removed,
which increases strength. When there is a small
hole in the part, Plough said, “We squeeze out the
porosity of the part with very high pressure, which
doesn’t change the shape of the part.” The proce-
dure increases the strength and integrity of the part.
Company CEO Doug Puerta said in a 2019 press
release, “As a new entrant into the HIP market, it
was critical that we continue to have the ability to
offer a premium combination of quality and delivery
to our clients; Quintus has given us the confidence
and ability to do this.”
Plough added, “I think we actively look to service
our customers with processes adjacent to heat
treating so that they can cut fewer purchase orders
(PO’s) and get their work done appropriately.”
