& EDITORIAL DESIGN How strong is a football team without an offensive line? You might have some great players but
without an important part of the team you will certainly not play at your best potential.

In order to be an effective and coordinated regional industry in an increasingly competitive market-
place, you have to not only have a full team, but you also need a playbook.
The Pacific Northwest is renowned as being a worldwide hub for the aerospace industry and this
nomenclature is well deserved. However, it does not matter how many Super Bowl rings you own, you
need to make sure you stay in shape and not rest upon the past.
The Pacific Northwest regional aerospace clusters have been meeting and organizing to best serve
the manufacturing community on numerous levels, from political advocacy, to informative events and
seminars designed to educate in the latest industry advancements. These things, coupled with strong
efforts in workforce development, major industry conferences and stellar business participation, keep
the Pacific Northwest “Super Cluster” of organizations pulling the rope together in the same direction.
There will always be ups and downs in manufacturing. Our current international issues regarding
Covid-19 have made a huge unexpected impact on top of other industry interruptions and challeng-
es. Some of the announcements of events in this issue may already have changed. Please reach out
to these organizations to stay updated on their important resources designed to help the aerospace
community stay strong in the face of headwinds. Rebounding will take the ongoing efforts of these
dedicated groups and your participation as well.
As a good friend of mine often says “A rising tide lifts all ships.” By supporting each other during this
storm and being a part of a strong team, we can persevere and get back to sunny days again.
