ary Moe, president of ID Integration, Inc. sees a big threat in our national security
through computer systems used by the government and military. Barcode scanners, com-
monly used in shipping and receiving departments, are a second keyboard when connected
to a PC. 2D barcodes can be embedded with malicious windows and PC system com-
mands that can leave networked PC’s susceptible to cyberattacks. Moe’s company created
a product that will mitigate this risk. But the Mukilteo company had to take it to market -
especially to the security and defense market, which isn’t always easy.
