ASSOCIATION FOR UNMANNED VEHICLE SYSTEMS SPOTLIGHT
Meeting of the Minds
Twice each year, the AUVSI Cascade
Chapter holds a two-day symposium
that brings together more than 100
professionals from across the region,
to talk about the latest advances in
unmanned systems. The conference
rotates between the two states served by
the chapter, with Washington hosting the
spring conference each year — usually
sometime in early April — while the fall
conference is held in Oregon.
In 2019, the spring conference will take
place at the CenterPoint Conference
Center in Kent, Washington, on April
3-4. Its most recent event — held on
the Intel campus in Hillsboro, Oregon,
last September — featured presentations
on: the remote identification of small,
commercial UAS; wireless recharging of
drones in mid-flight; fluidic propulsion
systems; and developing the high-tech
work force, among other topics.
In addition to presentations, attendees
also have the opportunity to speak
with exhibitors who display the latest
technology, from unmanned aerial
vehicles to 3D printing. Beyond the
programming and displays, these
events serve as prime opportunities to
forge connections with other industry
professionals, creating new opportunities
for attendees.
Mix and Mingle
As part of its commitment to bring the
unmanned systems community together,
especially in smaller venues that may
not be a good fit for its symposiums, the
AUVSI Cascade Chapter holds several
networking events around the region each
year. These are hosted by local member
companies, giving them the opportunity
to show off their facilities or share the
work that they are doing with an engaged
audience.
