aquel’s supervisor, Clint Folyer couldn’t be more
proud of Raquel’s achievements as a young adult. Al-
though she came into the program with minimal skills,
she will leave Tool Gauge, a place she can always call
home. “My experience with our youth apprentice Ra-
quel has cemented my dedication to always renewing
in the Youth Apprenticeship,” Folyer said. “Every year
the program recruits, I am going to hire at least one or
two students out of the program, with the hopes I can
get another Raquel!”
The goal of each program is to develop productive,
lifelong learners that companies can rely upon to grow
our state’s aerospace and advanced manufacturing
workforce. Washington State is home to the largest
cluster of aerospace companies
in the world

continue to pass on their knowledge to the next gener-
ation.
“The success of the program does not depend on the
students staying with us,” said Vigil. “To us the success of
the program is investing in those students’ future. We do it
because it’s the right thing to do. We helped them in their
career; they speak highly of our company, and that alone is
worth a million dollars.”
