The Academy for Sciences & Agriculture( AFSA), for grades 5 – 12, engages learners in academically rigorous, student-centered learning experiences and leadership opportunities within a science and agricultural context. The focus is on the development of life-long learners who have high-skill levels, care for others and are prepared to thrive in a diverse, global and changing society. Family involvement, community support and partnerships with agribusiness and educational organizations are emphasized.

The Vadnais Heights facility was purposefully designed to fit AFSA’ s High School curriculum and mission. Its location allows the inclusion of students from all northern Twin Cities areas to attend. Popular demand of the successful High School encouraged the opening of the AFSA Middle School in 2014. Located near the Minnesota State Fair Grounds, the AFSA Middle School serves students in grades 5 – 7. In 2015 – 16, AFSA students earned over 300 University of Minnesota credits in its College in the Schools program. AFSA students performed over 4,300 hours of community service. The Academy’ s Fall and Spring Farm and Community Service Days are a great success with students and with the Twin Cities agribusinesses, farms and parks that AFSA serves.
