VHEDC DINNER AND BUSINESS AWARDS
The Annual VHEDC Dinner is a culmination of a year’ s worth of collaboration, hard work and connecting with area businesses. A sold-out audience of over 300 – business and community leaders – filled the Vadnais Heights Commons November 1, 2016 to celebrate the year and honor the three Awards’ recipients: H. B. Fuller, The Urgency Room, and Du Fresne Manufacturing and White Bear Lake Area Schools.
The event included a keynote speech about“ Authentic Leadership” by Bill George: senior fellow at Harvard Business School; author of four best-selling books; director of Goldman Sachs and The Mayo Clinic; and, former chairman and CEO of Medtronic. George talked about his successes in creating quality leaders and how to build a sustainable business. He noted that Minnesota is thriving and should be proud of its accomplishments:“ The country uses Minnesota as a business model. Leadership is about teams and how well you can collaborate.”
Ling Becker, VHEDC Executive Director, says,“ It was a tremendous night celebrating the vitality of the business community. Our businesses are investing locally; they not only care about their own bottom lines and profits, but they also care about the success of other businesses in the area. This connectivity – this energy – of businesses with the community and with other area partners drives everyone toward success. Our dinner celebrates a year of hard work, and it’ s also a warm-hearted‘ thank you’ to our business community for making everyone – including the larger community – better.”
