CENTURY COLLEGE
Century College President Angelia Millender and faculty members, Rick Nelson and Michael Berndt, welcomed state
legislators to Century’s Fab Lab to thank them for their support/approved funding of the Advanced Technology Center.

interested in getting involved with
medical device manufacturers, where
technicians with biofabrication skills are
in increasingly high demand.
EVOLVING TOGETHER
It is important for Century College to
evolve together with faculty across
disciplines, business, and industry while
working to build and deliver the Applied
Technology Center. Simenson believes
this collaborative approach will set up
the Advanced Technology Center, and
Century College, to continue inspiring,
preparing and empowering students in
a changing world.

“I think this is going to position Century
College to evolve as we develop new
programs and update pre-existing
programs,” said Simenson. “It’s really
going to help prepare students and
give them a leg up as they enter the job
market.”
Clear evidence of Century College’s
collaborative approach is the new
Learning Commons built within the
Advanced Technology Center. The
objective of the new area is to create
classrooms, tutoring, and faculty and
student study spaces centralized by
department.
“This is very much a collaborative
effort between multiple academic
departments,” said Simenson. “It’s not
a laboratory just for engineering or just
for technology.”
A consistent organization of
departments in this way, as opposed
to a scattered arrangement, will allow
related departments to develop
interdisciplinary relationships and create
synergy among related programs.
Outside of communication between
academic departments, Century
College will make sure to utilize input
from the administration, faculty, and an
external business and industry advisory
committee.
