THE YEAR’S HIGHLIGHTS
Ensuring Economic Success
The Vadnais Heights Economic
Development Corporation’s (VHEDC)
Workforce Advisory Committee is
comprised of a variety of industry
partners and community stakeholders.
VHEDC and White Bear Lake Area
Schools (WBLAS) continue to partner
through the GenZ Skills and Careers in
Manufacturing Pathway, which provides
exposure to manufacturing careers
to area high school students. Since
2015, the WBLAS’ Career Pathways
program has grown from one pathway –
Manufacturing – to four: Manufacturing,
Healthcare, IT (Information Technology)
and Construction. Students are exposed
to many different opportunities to explore
specific industries with the help of
WBLAS’ Career Navigators.
In early January 2019 the VHEDC received
a Minnesota Department of Labor and
Industry’s Youth Skills Training Grant.
The Northeast Manufacturing Education
(NEME) Partnership will create new paid,
hands-on manufacturing opportunities
for students in Roseville Area Schools,
North St. Paul/Maplewood/Oakdale Area
Schools, Mounds View Area Schools,
White Bear Lake Area Schools and AFSA
High School.
Century College has developed many
programs that include internship
experiences. Its Digital Fab Lab
incorporates a Massachusetts Institute of
Technology initiative across its curriculum
in science, technology, engineering and
math (STEM) areas. In addition, Century
College’s Health Sciences programs have
received recognition across Minnesota for
producing graduates that are prepared
to excel in their fields. In 2018 Century
College received the VHEDC Community
Partnership Award.

The Community Partnership Award is a great honor for Century College and an affirmation that our
commitment to local businesses and communities is making a real difference. The VHEDC has been an
invaluable partner to us as we prepare students to enter the workforce. I am confident that together
we will continue to keep the Northeast Metro area economy strong.
