SEH: Building a Better World for All of Us ®
Short Elliott Hendrickson Inc. (SEH)
– headquartered in Vadnais Heights–
is an employee-owned engineering,
architectural, environmental and
planning company that helps
government, industrial and commercial
clients find answers to complex
challenges. Award-winning SEH projects
in the Twin Cities Metro areas include:
• Highway 96 and I-35W diverging
diamond project.
• Nicollet Mall reconstruction.
• Target Field station transit plaza.
Scott Haupt, senior professional civil
engineer with SEH for 11 years, says
SEH has several major projects planned
for 2019, including:
• Minneapolis Park and Recreation
Board (MPRB) Mississippi Gorge
Regional Park Master Plan and Phases
I and II Implementation.
• Hennepin Avenue construction and
renovation in downtown Minneapolis.
• City of Saint Paul 2018 sanitary sewer
services investigation.
Haupt says, “Notable Vadnais Heights
projects include: Vadnais Heights’
City Center Drive extension and street
lighting projects; annual street and
utility rehabilitation projects (over 20
miles of city streets since 1994); I-35E/
County Road E interchange; water tower
reconditioning / rehabilitation projects;
and preparation of numerous traffic,
ground water and surface water reports
/ studies throughout the city.”
The company’s local influence, however,
goes beyond municipal projects.
Haupt says many SEH Vadnais Heights
employees live in the Northeast Metro
and support local restaurants and
businesses every day. “Our employees

take pride in SEH being recognized as
a well-respected member in Vadnais
Heights and other Northeast Metro area
communities.
“In 2017, we completed our Fifth
Annual Company-Wide Food and
Fund drive to help feed the hungry
through volunteering, participating
and donating. Company-wide, we’ve
donated a grand total of over $165,000
to local food shelves in the communities
that SEH serves,” says Haupt.
SEH has supported Vadnais Heights
Economic Development Corporation
(VHEDC) and city-sponsored events for
several years. Haupt has served on the
VHEDC Board of Directors for two years
and says SEH has had a representative
on the VHEDC board for nearly 10
years. Haupt encourages others in the
business community to serve with the
VHEDC: “Having board representatives
with different business backgrounds /
areas of expertise provides a broader
array of ideas as each member brings
their own unique perspective to the
board. This collaboration has helped
create and maintain a strong business
climate in the Northeast Metro
community.”
