BIZRECYCLING GRANTS SAVE BUSINESSES MONEY
Everyone knows it ’ s good for the environment to divert materials from landfills that can be reused again or composted — and many of us already recycle at home . But , did you know that in 2016 the state of Minnesota mandated that all public entities , commercial buildings and sports facilities recycle at least three types of materials – such as paper , plastic , glass , metal and / or organics ?
Recycling can save your business money and has tremendous benefits to the local economy : creating jobs ; saving energy ; using less natural resources ; and generating less pollution than manufacturing from virgin materials .
In Ramsey County , there ’ s a 70 percent county and state tax by weight on trash hauled away , but there ’ s no tax on material or organics recycling . BizRecycling offers grant money up to $ 10,000 per business to offset start-up costs for new bins , signs , staff training or investing in more permanent solutions for disposables .
BizRecycling affiliate experts will conduct a free audit of your waste streams and suggest methods to improve your process or begin to capture valuable resources and divert them from your trash bins . Experts provide confidential assessments / recommendations and help guide your business through the process , including applying for grants , ordering labels , placing bins and training your staff .
Du Fresne Manufacturing
Recently , Du Fresne Manufacturing in Vadnais Heights received a free audit from MN Waste Wise Foundation . The company applied for a BizRecycling grant to add new bins at both of their manufacturing plants to capture and recycle plastic shipping bags and pallet shrink wrap . Du Fresne also added three Culligan water filling stations and will save 14,000 plastic water bottles a year from being thrown away ! Next up is a new organics recycling program .
