ACCOLADES
• Wood Oaks students competed well in the Illinois Junior Academy of Science State Science Fair. Eight
students received gold awards and two earned silver awards. One student received a Naval Science Award
for a project in botany, while another received a Best in Category award in Biochemistry.
• The District was honored with the Best Communities for Music Education designation from The NAMM
Foundation for its outstanding commitment to music education.
• The Wood Oaks Wind Ensemble performed as State Champions at the 2017 Illinois SuperState
Concert Band Festival in May. The recognition is given to the top performing middle school band at
the festival.
• The art work of fifth grade students from Shabonee were on display at the Northbrook Public Library
in April. The students produced art based on the style of contemporary street artist WRDSMTH.
